PRESS RELEASE

Travel specialist Gourmet Trails launches Taste The World™ Dining Series.

Private travel specialist Gourmet Trails has launched the inaugural Taste The World dining series, an exciting month-long festival that will be held on 4 – 26 May 2024.

United by shared goals, Taste The World™ is a partnership led by Gourmet Trails that demonstrates how food truly transcends boundaries and acts as a conduit for understanding and common purpose. Along with restaurants renowned for their commitment to cultural stewardship through culinary excellence, the event series aims to provide food lovers in Singapore with a delectable discovery of world cuisines from different regions.

The inaugural event is set to elevate the culinary scene in Singapore, telling the stories of diverse cultures around the world through the universal language of food. Promising an unparalleled epicurean journey throughout the month of May, Taste The World highlights the essence of world cuisines in partnership with some of Singapore’s most esteemed establishments: Appetite, Hashida, CURE, Canchita, UMMI, and ANJU. Profits from the event will go towards the United Nations World Food Programme.

Opening Day Special: Dialogue Over A Lunch Journey with Michelin-starred Chef Ivan Brehm and Gourmet Trails founder Pamela Tan

Kickstarting the Taste The World™ dining series, Michelin-starred chef Ivan Brehm of Nouri and Appetite, known for his ‘crossroads’ cooking, will be hosting a lunch journey together with Gourmet Trails founder Pamela Tan on 4 May 2024, Saturday, at 12.00pm. Enjoy a glass of champagne with an intimate group of no more than fourteen guests, and engage in an enriching dialogue on world cuisines through a delectable journey of flavours, consisting of three snacks, four courses, dessert, and a choice of drink ($300/pax).

Travel through continents and Taste The World

Dive into an unorthodox exploration of Japanese cuisine at Hashida, led by celebrity chef Kenjiro ‘Hatch’ Hashida, who brings to the table an interpretation of sushi omakase that is deeply rooted in personal reflection and uninhibited artistic expression. In a space inspired by a Shinto shrine, with elegant features rich in symbolism, and amusing quirks designed by the chef himself.

Explore the depths of modern Irish cuisine at CURE from its produce to its history, through a meal. Embark on a culinary journey with Michelin-starred chef Andrew Walsh through his Irish heritage, where variations of his seasonal menu awaits guests.

Chef couple Daniel and Tamara Chavez will bring together the best of Peruvian and Mexican flavours in a vibrant 6-course dinner, complete with a demonstration of ceviche (a signature dish in Peru) and mole poblano (a flavourful Mexican stew). Coming with a choice of cocktail or housepour wine, Canchita brings this unique experience to Taste The World™ guests at Dempsey Hill.

Elevate taste buds at UMMI where guests will be treated to a myriad of textures and flavors from a time-limited set menu. Helmed by Michelin-starred chef Greg Malouf and his protégé chef Ali Assaf, UMMI will serve elevated classics in a glamorous setting that will transport guests to the city of Beirut. Commence the night with a welcome drink before being served six hot / cold mezze, with freshly made Lebanese bread. Guests will be able to select their choice of main before ending the meal with UMMI’s signature kunafeh dessert.

Over in Tanjong Pagar, ANJU brings modern Korean flavours to guests with a 4-course dinner, including a dish created especially for event guests, accompanied by a choice of artisanal makgeolli, soju, or seasonal fruit wine, all carefully selected from premium alcohol producers in Korea.

Tickets for Taste The World™ range from $180 to $450, offering a variety of dining experiences from gourmet casual to fine dining. Profits from the event will go towards the United Nations World Food Programme.
