“Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan were beyond my expectations. The trip has demystified many misconceptions I had about these countries. It was a delight and insightful to chat with the guides and locals; hearing folklore, stories, and history from a different perspective. The historical monuments and Soviet era architecture were impressive and pictures do not do it justice.
With Gourmet Trails, we were able to try popular local restaurants (that locals are willing to drive and queue for!) and the option to try unique/exotic offerings when up for it.

“We had a fabulous time touring the Italian lakes, from Lake Como to Lake Maggiore (my favourite!) and Lake Orta, before heading to Turin. It was a short stay, but we thoroughly enjoyed soaking in Turin’s history, being the first capital of Italy. We wrapped up our holiday in Piedmont with plenty of good food and wine, in Alba and the surrounding wine country of Barolo and Barbaresco. We even experienced truffle hunting and had a hands-on cooking experience.
A big thank you to Pamela and Gourmet Trails for making it such a magical and memorable 2+ weeks for us, and for the attention to details! All the choices for accommodation and restaurants were top notch, and we cannot wait to return to Italy again.”

All three hotels were great choices. Love the breakfast spread for the second hotel especially, and Il Cestino dinner was a superb recommendation.
Tour guides/drivers were friendly and helpful. If there is anything that I would like to change is the daytrip to the Alps, would love to spend more time or even a night stay at the ski resort!”

“It was wonderful. I especially like the Lake Akan cruise and ryokan accommodation at Fujikawaguchiko. We didn’t get to actually see the Blue pond, so much snow it’s white instead but still lovely.
Too much food (kaiseki portion is so huge that none of us managed to finish). Daiichi Hotel’s buffet dinner was great! The udon noodles on the way to Rusutsu was surprisingly good – with a view to die for.
The Westin Rusutsu upstairs/downstairs initially was great till we realised we can’t possibly bring the luggages down because it would be impossible to bring it back up the steps. But the view!! and the powdery snow!! 👍”

“Thank you for the detailed planning and all arrangements. Some exceptional experiences were delivered.
Hotels were all good, with amazing surroundings, good meals and served in style. The touring of the Angkor temples was excellent with early starts and then time to enjoy a relaxing time back at the hotel and recover before our next sight visit. The guides were very good at ensuring that we were at the correct place to make most use of the best lights.
The luxury river cruise was the next highlight. An experience with the very knowledgeable crew, local guides, well organised and executed.
Unfortunately I caught the flu bug towards the last 3 days of the cruise so my enjoyment was curtailed. However we met up with our new acquaintances; they and the crew were very supportive hence we still had a good time.
Vietnam was interesting too. Unfortunately it was Carol’s turn with the flu. We had to skip most outings as Carol was not up to it. Future plans!!!

“Kenya was so good to us!
From the moment the family landed in Nairobi, we were well-cared for by our drivers and all our lovely hosts at the camps.
We had amazing game drives, each one outdoing the one before. By our second drive at Amboseli, we sighted a mama cheetah and 3 almost-grown cub boys. And we got lucky not once (but twice!) with leopards, once at the Mara Triangle and once again at the Masai Mara reserve.
We super ❤️ Rekero!! The authenticity of the camp, from the tarpaulin floors to the hot water bottles in our beds at night and in our seats for the early morning drives to coming home to the warmth of communal dinners, sharing our stories with fellow travellers.
Thank you Pamela and team for firstly suggesting to us and thereafter organising our trip of a lifetime. We’ve left our hearts in Kenya, and would love to be back again someday. We have thousands of photos from our trip but as William Burchell, an English explorer once said: Nothing but breathing the air of Africa, and actually walking through it, can communicate the indescribable sensations.”
